David Balfour is a distinguished education leader and film industry professional dedicated to fostering the next generation of screen storytellers. As Head of Department for Film & Television at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA), he drives innovative approaches to screen education, blending creative excellence with emerging technologies to prepare students for a rapidly evolving industry.
Previously, David served as Director of Teaching & Learning at the Australian Film Television & Radio School (AFTRS), where he led curriculum innovation, strategic partnerships, and the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
An award-winning producer with films recognised at international festivals, David has also consulted on scripts for leading production companies in the UK and USA. He has taught and led programs at SAE, Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts, the University of Melbourne, and the Met Film School in London. David holds an MA in Producing from the National Film and Television School (UK).
