Very Short Film Festival 2026 Submissions

Submissions for the 2026 Australian Official Competition have now closed.

Students and schools who requested additional time due to term dates may still submit their films.

International Submissions

VSFF is now welcoming international submissions, featuring bold short films under five minutes from filmmakers worldwide.

Selected films may be presented as part of the VSFF program, including screenings at the Premiere Festival Weekend in Hobart, Tasmania, and across the National Tour.

Submission Information

Submission Categories*
Official Competition & Junior: 2–5 minutes including credits. Micro Film: 1 minute or under.
Provide a brief synopsis of your film. If submitting to a Signature category, please also note how the 2026 Signature, THREAD, is incorporated.
Your film must be submitted as an MP4 file encoded in H.264. Please upload a high-quality viewing copy suitable for judging (do not upload uncompressed master files). Provide a Dropbox link with permissions set to “Anyone with the link can view”, and ensure the link works by checking it in an incognito browser window. For further technical guidance, please refer to the FAQs.
Provide a link to a folder (Dropbox) containing 2–10 high-resolution stills from the final edited film. BTS footage or images may be included. (If selected, these may be used for festival promotion.)
