Stephanie Phillips crafts the ‘Dorothies’ for VSFF 2024

In the spirit of tradition and artistic homage, the trophies for this year’s Very Short Film Festival (VSFF) carry forward the cherished name “the Dorothies.” This title, first introduced at the 2023 premiere event, honours the legacy of the local Tasmanian artist Dorothy Duncombe-Jackson.

Why we love the ‘Dorothies’

This year, the magic touch comes from Melbourne ceramicist, Stephanie Phillips. Known for her vibrant, colourful and textural ceramic art, Stephanie is crafting trophies that are not just awards but stories in themselves. We’re keeping the final designs under wraps for now – because who doesn’t love a good surprise?

The big reveal

Circle May 31, 2024, on your calendars! That’s when we’ll all be at the State Cinema in Hobart, celebrating the best in short filmmaking. And once the winners are announced, the ‘Dorothies’ will be unveiled.
