We’re excited to share the highlights from an unforgettable evening at the Newcastle Playhouse. Our first Very Short Film Festival (VSFF) event in NSW was a resounding success, selling out and bringing together a passionate crowd of creatives and film lovers from across the region.
The Films and Filmmakers
We showcased the finalist films of 2024 alongside last year’s winners, presenting a rich tapestry of storytelling that captivated everyone.
The Q&A Panel
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the Q&A session, facilitated by David Balfour, a seasoned VSFF judge, mentor, writer, producer, and expert industry educator. The panel included:
- Jaimie Conlon & Rishi Golembiewski for their documentary “Sustenance”
- Miranda Sharpe, discussing her delightful short, “The Universal Struggle”
- Kaelyn Ward, presenting her short drama film, “Uprooted”
- Hayden Best, behind the animation “Kinetic Connection”
Here are some photos from our wonderful panel:
Each filmmaker shared their unique perspectives, discussing what inspires them, why they are driven to tell stories, and a glimpse into their creative processes. These personal insights added a profound layer of depth to the films we enjoyed together.
Thank you once again for making our first NSW event a memorable one. We look forward to more incredible nights like this in the future.
