Event Date: Thursday 6 March 2025
The Very Short Film Festival (VSFF) made its Queensland debut with a special screening at the beautiful Warrina Cineplex in Townsville — and what a night it was!
As our first-ever event in the Sunshine State, the evening marked a major milestone for the festival. Audiences were treated to a curated selection of 18 outstanding short films from past VSFF winners, each bringing bold, creative, and deeply human stories to the big screen. From thought-provoking dramas to quirky comedies, the films sparked conversation and connection among attendees.
A highlight of the night was the filmmaker Q&A with Jack Breedon of Lacelid Productions, who co-created In My Bones with Harrison Warne. Jack shared insights into their short film in conversation with David Balfour. Their discussion on how science and filmmaking intersect to tell powerful stories added depth and inspiration to the evening.
In My Bones is a short documentary that follows palaeontologist Adele Pentland and her extraordinary life as both a grazier on a vast remote cattle station in Western Queensland, and a part-time researcher at the Australian Age of Dinosaurs museum. We are incredibly grateful to Screen Queensland for supporting this event and helping us bring VSFF to new audiences. And of course, a heartfelt thank you to the Townsville community for turning out in such enthusiastic numbers and making it such a memorable night.
