We’re thrilled to announce the launch of the 2025 Very Short Film Festival (VSFF)!
A huge thank you to our VSFF community for all the incredible ideas submitted for the signature.
🎬 And drumroll, please… our signature theme for the 2025 VSFF is
“Seed.”
Seed is open to endless interpretation. It might be the beginning of an idea, the start of a journey, or even a story of growth, resilience, or transformation. It could represent new possibilities, hope, or legacies yet to bloom. Amd like a seed, your short film can have a big impact.
Interpret it however you like and tell any story you want—the signature simply marks it as part of VSFF, and the world will see it for the first time here! Remember, this doesn’t need to dictate your story; let it weave subtly through dialogue, visuals, or as an underlying theme.
Why enter the VSFF official competition?
- No entry fees, so jump in and join the fun! Open to all ages, with a dedicated category for school-age students.
- Create a short film between 2–5 minutes, in any style or genre.
- Finalists receive mentorship from Australian film industry icons, flights and accommodation for the Premiere Screening and Gala Event, screenings across the nation, and cash prizes.
- VSFF is uniquely Australian only, shining a light on contemporary Australian voices and stories.
Entries close on 1 April 2025—so get creating, and let’s see what you’ll grow from Seed!
