Hello Friends, We are so delighted with the response this year – over 150 entries were received from all over Australia. The judges have selected films that capture the essence of the festival. It’s all about storytelling and a chance for anyone to tell a story to a wider audience. Join us to announce the winners at the Premiere Screening, 5.30pm, Friday 20 May 2022Spring Bay Mill, Tasmania. MC on the night will be award-winning writer, musician and radio broadcaster Casey Bennetto. Stay for the afterparty, meet the filmmakers and the judges, plus live music from the brilliant indie-folk duo the Runaway Belles.

Mark Bernard (Vic): Life is the story of a character who doesn’t want to face the present, but is willing to face the future. The Very Short Film Festival came just at the right time! I was at a point in my art career where I needed to challenge myself and get out of my comfort zone. Using a mini tablet, pen and traditional animation techniques, I was able to create this simple animation with hopefully a strong message behind it. This festival has given me a new life creatively  Im so honoured to be a part of it and shortlisted with so many talented and accomplished individuals. Thanks for the opportunity! Lily Lunder (Aged 17, Vic) and Koko Crozier (Aged 18, Vic): We’re so excited our film The Backwater has been shortlisted for the Very Short Film Festival. The process of making our entry in response to the prompt provided us with a unique creative opportunity and we’re very proud of the final product  so a huge thank you to all the organisers. We can’t wait to see all the shortlisted entries at the festival! Daisy Pyefinch (Aged 15, Tas): My mockumentary film Imprisoned is about a girl who dreams of being sent to prison but is not bad enough. I’m so excited to be shortlisted for this festival. It is such a great opportunity for filmmakers to showcase their work and it’s even more amazing that it’s happening right here in my home state of Tasmania.
